Caring for the Courageous

By | Simply Give | No Comments

We had a wonderful time at our Caring for the Courageous event! Last year, we had about 34 women in attendance and made 50 chemotherapy care bags. This year we had 97 women in attendance and made almost 300 chemotherapy care bags. The outpouring of support has been amazing! We are so grateful to each and everyone of you who donated items, money and your time. It doesn’t matter if you donated one item or 25 items, $5 or $50, we could not of done this without each and every one of you.

SabrinaHallPhotography-69

Two years ago, we asked women who have battled cancer what items they would find helpful, they gave us a list and that is how we chose our items. In each of our chemotherapy care bags, we put the following items: Lemon drops {for dry mouth}, Fiji water, a crossword puzzle, a journal and pen, cozy socks, a mug, Purell , tissues, peppermint tea {for nausea}, $5 Starbucks gift card, chap stick, hand lotion, and a hand written note of encouragement. Each lady who attended Caring for the Courageous went down an assembly line to grab a tote and one of each item listed. We loved having everyone be hands on and get involved.

SabrinaHallPhotography-93

We had the support of Faith Family Church. They took up an offering at their Flourish women’s gathering in February and collected $3,135 for our cause. In addition, they donated 60 care bags through their connect groups.  They also let us use their banquet room to host our event and I appreciate it so much. Local businesses donated baked goods. Sweet T’s Confections donated cupcakes, Scrumdiddlyumptious donated chocolate chips cookies, and The Cake Lady donated cutouts. Our local Giant Eagle also donated a $25 gift card. Lisa Burwell made a generous donation to cover the cost of all of out food. THANK YOU all SO much!

SabrinaHallPhotography-12

Simply Give is so happy to be supporting the courageous women battling cancer in our community. This has been on my heart to reach out to women battling cancer. After praying about what I could do to reach out, Jacqui Rini came to me with the idea to make these care bags. You can check out her blog by clicking HERE.  We are both so thrilled to head up such a great cause, but more importantly we are so thrilled to have support of so many. THANK YOU!

SabrinaHallPhotography-31

After assembling our care bags, we had two women share their testimony and battle with cancer. It was very inspiring and inspirational. Polly shared that she appreciates every day moments so much more. She really relied on God to get through this time. She is beyond grateful to God that she is cancer free to enjoy life with her husband and two daughters.

SabrinaHallPhotography-132

Brandi, wife and mom to two sweet girls,  shared about her battle with breast cancer. She opted to have a double mastectomy. One of my favorite things she said was, “I am not attached to my hair and breast, they are attached to me.” Profound. Her zeal for life is amazing, her positive attitude and faith in God is truly inspiring. She shared her own personal battle with cancer all while her  sweet mama was welcomed into Heaven, battling cancer herself. It has been a few months since her mother entered Heaven’s gates, and I know she is doing exactly what her mom wanted her to do, sharing the good news of Jesus.

SabrinaHallPhotography-134

We ended the evening praying over the bags and for any woman who may be battling cancer. There is just something about 100 women in a room, thanking God for his goodness and peace that will overcome these women receiving the bags.

Over the next week, we will spend time delivering to several local cancer centers. I’ll post about it when all of the drop off’s are complete!!

Thank you Sabrina Hall Photography for donating your time and talents to capture our event. You are a blessing!!!

SabrinaHallPhotography-124

HEART FOR THE HOMELESS

Aultcare 30

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

I am honored to be part of the Aultcare 30! Thank you to MIX 94.1 and Aultcare for this amazing honor! I am so excited to be able to share with people what SIMPLY GIVE and THE LITTLE GIVERS CLUB are doing in the community.

My vision for Simply Give from the beginning has been inspire others to give generously in every area of their life. To God, to your family and friends and  to reach out to the needs of the community. Simply Give was founded on this quote, “You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give”.

That quote is so true.  My posts usually pertain to motherhood, nurturing your marriage {I post a #WeddedBlissWednesday post once e a week,} blessing those who are in our life on a regular basis, or preforming a random act of kindness to a complete stranger. Every day, we have to opportunity to give in literally every area of our life.

Simply GIVE has events through the year. Our very first event was in March of this year. We had a “Mardi-Bra” on Mardi Gras and collected 115 new bras, 211 new pairs on panties and 12 feminine products. All of these items were donated to the local YWCA and the Hope House for Women. At our next event held in April, Caring for the Courageous, a group of women assembled 50 chemotherapy care bag which were distributed to local cancer centers. Our next event will be held on Thursday, August 27th at La Pizzeria from 5:30-8:30 PM to make admission bags for families and babies at the Aultman NICU through the Peep Program (Parents Encouraging and Embracing Parents). More information is  on our Facebook page.

I am not only a wife but a mom of 4, which is why I started the Little Givers Club. The Little Givers Club was created to teach children to reach out to others in their community by doing random act of kindness. Our goal is to teach kids when we display simple acts of kindness, not only do we make an impact on the lives around us, it also makes an impact on our own lives. Our slogan is simple but true,

It’s Nice to Be Nice”.

We hold events a few times a year, which are opportunities for kids to meet and interact with other Little Givers and most importantly, have fun! We hand out “missions” to the kids that they can complete with their parents in-between events. This creates a firsthand encounter of the impact of random acts of kindness. You can search our hashtag #LittleGiversClub to see some opf the missions we have done. They are as simple as leaving a quarter in a candy machine for when the next child comes through a store, or leaving a treat in the mailbox for your mailman.

In November 2014, the Little Givers Club collected 2 carloads of food for a local food pantry. Over the holidays, we collected over 60 board games for families less fortunate. In February 2015 we collected over 65 bags of clothing that were delivered to the local YWCA. In addition, we collected 58 gift cards to McDonalds for the YWCA’s Incentive Program. In April, we were recognized at the Akron Rubber Ducks game and collected 194 boxes of character band aids and 144 teddy bears, all delivered to Akron Children’s Hospital. In July we collected 564 items to send overseas to our troops.

As a busy wife and mom of four, I am striving daily to inspire more and more people to make an impact on the world around us. I hope you will join in on this journey! I am going to be completely honest and let you know I’m not the best about updating this website {because I am, chasing four cute kids around} BUT I do keep our social media pages updated daily! Please follow us and share with your friends!

#LittleGiversClub Bandaids and Bears

By | Little Givers Club | No Comments

The Little Givers Club is so excited to be collecting items for Akron Children’s Hospital at The Akron Rubber Ducks on Friday, April 10th!

This past year my friend, Courtney Smyser came to me with the idea to collect bandaids and bears for Akron Children’s. She has had childhood cancer on her heart and wanted to do something to give back to these amazing kids. We have joined forces to make this event reach out more children.

The Akron Rubber Ducks have been so amazing to work with and are going to host our event. Our Little Givers will be recognized and will be able to walk on the field before the game. Info and ticket sales are on the flyer. You can just call Jenna if you would like to purchase tickets.

Little Givers Club

The Little Givers Club will also be able to throw the first pitch of the game! We are so excited for Ayanna Culler to be our guest of honor. She has recently spent a lot of time at Akron Children’s for a neuroblastoma, but with lots of prayer, she recently got an awesome report! You can find more information on her CaringBridge site: Ayanna Culler

Meet the Hershey’s

By | Simply Give, Uncategorized | No Comments

Who am I? How did I start Simply Give? Why did I start Simply Give?

I wanted to tell you a little bit about us. We are the Hershberger’s but I always call us “The Hershey’s.”

My husband and I will be together 15 years {married 6 1/2 years} in January. It is seriously crazy how fast time flies. I feel like we just started dating in high school and here we are… all this time later, married with 4 kids.

I am a wife. I am a stay at home mom. I LOVE coffee. And donuts. And Jesus. I probably should’ve mentioned that first. HA! I really love being a wife and mom. Although this little army that we created sometimes drives me completely coo coo. Of course I wouldn’t trade it. I am one of eight siblings. Yes, you heard that right…EIGHT! I love my big family. I love to bargain shop. I love Target. I love going on dates with my husband. I also love when my kids sleep all night…..which rarely happens….which is why I am crazy. {wink}

I started Simply Give because I have a passion for people. I have always loved helping people. One day I was sitting at home, in my sweats, makeup-less, chugging some coffee while I was surrounded by my cute baby and toddler, thinking to myself…..”What can I do to help people while staying at home with my kids?” and that is when the idea of Simply Give came upon me. I thought I’d start a blog to inspire others to give. But me, a mom….a mom that only knows how to use Facebook. How was I going to start a blog? I decided just to jump right in, and started one on a blogspot. Thank the Lord I have gotten a tad better and thanks to Harrison Whittaker for designing this blog for me! I was trying to come up with a catchy name. I wanted something simple and about giving. I put two and two together and decided to call it SIMPLY GIVE.

I thought I would start blogging about random acts of kindness, and then I realized that EVERYTHING we do in life comes down to giving. We give to God, our spouse, our kids, our family and friends….even random strangers. Simply Give in a nut shell is just about giving generously in every area of your life. To everyone in your life. On this blog, and my social media pages, if you are looking for perfection, you won’t find it. If you are looking for inspiration, hopefully you will. At the end of the day, I am a busy wife and mom of four that is on a mission to inspire others to give. My pictures are not always picture perfect, my post might have a typo…mainly because I may have a kid on my hip and be in the middle of getting the kids lunch. My vlogs are literally in my basement, the only place I can “hide out”.

My hubby, Shawn, is a sweetheart. He is one of the most selfless men I know. He doesn’t just tell me he loves me, he shows me on a daily basis. Im not saying that for show….you can ask anyone who knows him. He is a gem. My oldest son Hunter {age 6} has kept me on my toes since he was born. He is full of energy. He likes to say things that embarrass me. He is a stinker but has the cutest dimples in the world that melt my heart. Carter {age 4} has the sweetest spirit about him. He likes to obey the rules, but sometimes likes to  be sneaky about things. He is always asking me questions about God and is a spiritual little boy. He has a heart of gold. Capri {age 2} is as spunky as they come. She is the perfect balance between being girly and a tomboy. She will not keep bows in her hair, which bums me out because I am a girly girl. She is so sweet and little Miss Personality. Last but not least, is my little Cruz {11 months} . He is so laid back and is obsessed with his Dad, Papa and Mickey Mouse. He is the worst sleeper…EVER! But such a little lover boy!

Now…You can say you have officially met the Hershey’s.

Here is a small glimpse of us….. Thankful for a very patient photographer!

Thank you for your love and support on this crazy journey of motherhood and Simply Give!

JoJo visits with The Sparkle Box

By | Little Givers Club | No Comments

We started two fun traditions last year around the Holidays! I couldn’t resist buying Elf on the Shelf for my kids!! Last year I went all out…..every…single…night. Isn’t it crazy how much energy goes in to that little elf arriving? Ahhhh!! I will have to say that this year I am slacking. Like…majorly.

We also started a tradition with something special my Mom bought the kids! It’s called The Sparkle Box. It is an amazing book all about the true meaning of Christmas {Jesus} and teaches ours kids about giving to others. It is right up the alley of the Little GIvers Club. We were honored that the Author, Jill Hardie, was able to come to our last Little Givers Club meeting and do a book reading! It fit in perfectly with the kid’s mission this month. I encourage you to buy this book! It’s amazing!

photo 1

This year {and last} we brought these two fun traditions together. I had our elf, JoJo, bring the kids The Sparkle Box along with a giving mission to do. Last year JoJo brought them gloves to leave at a bus stop for a random person to find. {This is also the mission handed out to members of the Little Givers  Club for the month of December} This year JoJo left Hunter and Carter each a bag to fill for a family in need that will go to the Ronald McDonald house.

photo (88)photo (70)photo 2

(1) JoJo leaves the kids a note and gloves to giveaway last year, (2) Delivering Gloves to a local bus stop, (3) JoJo leaving the kids bags to fill for families in need this year

Do you know how many lives our cute kiddos could make an impact on if everyone who owned an Elf on the Shelf encouraged their kids to give in some way?!

Here are a few suggestions:

The Glove Give: Leave a a pair of gloves with a note telling your child to leave them at a bus stop.

Leave change for them to put in a Salvation Army Bucket.

Mail a letter to a soldier over seas. {This is also a Little Givers Club mission for December}

Color a picture for a neighbor.

Clean out their toy room and donate toys

Give a friend a special surprise.

Bake your mailman a treat.

I hope you will join me in teaching your child to give. When we teach them like this, and make it fun, they are likely to want to do it all the time!

Jill Hardie, the Author of The Sparkle Box, gave me a signed book  to give away! All you have to do is post a picture on social media of your Elf on The Shelf leaving your child a note and mission. Please post it on my Facebook Page Simply GIVE or on Instagram tagging @simply_give and using hashtags on both sites #LittleGiversClub and #TheSparkleBox ! A winner will be chosen on Friday! Have fun with this parents!

Just for a little fun, if you have been following me on Simply Give, you know I’m a busy and kinda CRAZY Mom of four. If you didn’t know the crazy part, now you do! I dressed up like a real life Elf on the Shelf for my kids last year and made it on LIVE with Kelly and Michael! I have to tell you that I was 8 months pregnant with my son Cruz. HA! So this year I dressed up again, with Cruz as a baby Elf! I plan on sending it back in to the show for an update!  It was fun but I’m pretty sure that I will always be known as the Pregnant Elf on the Shelf.

Happy Thanksgiving guys! Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating all the things we have to be thankful for!

“Let’s not only give thanks, but give others a reason to be thankful.”

One of my favorite Thanksgiving quotes!

Have a blessed day!

#LittleGiversClub Food Drive

By | Little Givers Club | No Comments

You guys….The first Little Givers Club was a huge success, thanks to all of you!!

I was so pleased with the turn out and the amount of food we collected to give to Perry Helping Perry. Perry Helping Perry is a local non-profit that reaches out to the community to meet the needs of the people. They have so many amazing things going on through the year. A food pantry, a clothes closet,a bike giveaway, a Christmas blessing and SO much  more. I love what they are doing for the community and was so happy we could hook up with them.

Pump it Up was such a blast. We ended up having 59 kids in attendance plus all of their parents. It was just adorable to see all of them bringing in their canned goods and then having the time of their life running around like crazy. The kids played, then we had a small chat about why, “It’s nice to be nice.” After that I gave the kids their “missions” for the month. In their treat bags, they received an empty baggie with one of our #LittleGiversClub cards. They are suppose to put one dollar in it and leave it in the dollar spot at Target. There was also an envelope that had a free Wendy’s Frosty in it. They were to give this away to a friend or leave it in a random spot for someone to find. It’s been fun seeing pictures on social media with the kids completing their missions. You can search the hashtag #LittleGiversClub to follow all of the pictures. Here are a few pictures of our event!

5 Things we DON’T do in our marriage.

By | Married Life | No Comments

Hi Guys!

Two weeks ago I did a post about 3 things we DO to make our marriage thrive. Well, this week I am telling you five things we DON’T DO.

Once again, I escaped to my basement the other night to record this, the only place you can’t hear my cute little kids running around.

Have a great week! Make sure you are making your marriage a priority.

Be you, Bravely.

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

I’ve been trying to be BRAVE.  This message is so for myself. Sometimes we need reminded to “Be you, Bravely.” And you guys, can we just talk about how my face looks like I rolled in a bag of cheesy Doritos in the still shot on my YouTube video? Not quite sure how to change that. Lol. Probably something I should look into figuring out! Until next time, Be you, Bravely!

Gimme a break.

So, I have figured out that doing a vlog is WAY easier than me trying to type out a long post!

This post is dedicated to all moms! I have to say that my day was crazy and I literally tried to get my 2 year old to nap for 4 hours today on and off. After the 3rd car ride, she finally fell asleep! Praise Jesus!! Tomorrow I have a sitter to run errands and actually canceled lunch plans because I have so much to do for our event for the #LittleGiversClub which is a week from today! ( For info you can click on the “Little Givers” tab) But guess what? I am running a few errands then going to grab a Starbucks and get a pedi! I need some ME time! It is so important so we don’t get frustrated and overwhelmed! I saw this quote on a Facebook post today….”I want my kids to head out the door everyday full of peace, not the echoes of my frustrations!” I loved that! How many times have we been short with our kids because WE have so many things to do or because our day isn’t going as planned!? When we start to take our frustrations out on our kids…its time to GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK.

YOU DESERVE IT MAMA!!

Married Life… “If you are not working on your marriage, you are working on a divorce.”

You guys, isn’t that still shot just amazing on my youtube video? Ahhh…still learning things in the world of technology and I have no clue how to change it to a better picture.  This is my first video. Ever.  I’m not real sure where I was suppose to look when I was recording. HA. This is as real as it gets people. I would of probably edited this a bit, but I’m not real sure how! Regardless, the message is valuable!

I wanted to share three things that we do to keep our marriage thriving.  It’s so important to make our marriage a priority. A pastor at our church once said “If you are not working on your marriage, you are working on a divorce.” That is so true. Do these three things and watch your marriage thrive.

I will be doing a post next week on the 5 things that we DON’T do in our marriage.
